Eleven new healthcare workers just wrapped up a month-long training in Geneva, preparing them for careers as Certified Nursing Assistants.
UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health celebrated the October 2025 graduates of its CNA program, which offers paid training and hands-on experience to help students enter the field.
The graduates are: Halie Cole, Mikayla Coulter, Quinntara Davis, Veronica (Jo) Johnson, Emily Szczesniak, Jayana Ishmael, Roselia Lisk, Kyliah Rushing, Alayna Russ, Britney Turney, and Lisa Wise.
The program is approved by the New York State Department of Health and includes 138 hours of classroom, lab, and clinical instruction over four weeks. Students who finish the course are eligible to take the state certification exams.
CNA training often serves as a launchpad to more advanced roles in healthcare. Many grads go on to become licensed practical nurses (LPNs) or registered nurses (RNs).
Finger Lakes Health is actively hiring CNAs at its long-term care facilities in Geneva, Penn Yan, and Waterloo. New hires can qualify for a $2,000 signing bonus and weekly transportation support—$125 for those commuting to The Homestead in Penn Yan and $75 for Huntington Living Center in Waterloo.
