The former head of New York’s State Troopers union was arrested Friday for allegedly stealing union funds, according to the Times Union.
Thomas Mungeer, who led the Police Benevolent Association for over a decade, is accused of misusing thousands of dollars. He’s expected to plead guilty in a deal that includes probation and $25,000 restitution. The charges follow a yearslong probe into union finances, including luxury expenses and questionable vehicle deals.
The case stalled when federal prosecutors backed out, but the Albany County DA revived it. No other former officials are expected to face charges.
