Deputies arrested a man early Tuesday morning after a single-car crash left a vehicle stuck in a ditch at a Victor intersection.
The driver, identified as 30-year-old Joseph L. Sykes of Bloomfield, was charged with driving while intoxicated, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened around 1:30 a.m. at the corner of Willis Hill Road and Dryer Road. Deputies say Sykes was driving a 2017 Volkswagen GTI when it left its lane, passed through the intersection without stopping, and crashed into a ditch.
The car came to rest with its front end in an embankment and had struck the street sign at the intersection. Sykes reportedly told deputies he had swerved to avoid a deer.
After an investigation, deputies arrested Sykes on the scene. He was taken to Ontario County Jail and is awaiting arraignment. He’s expected to appear in Victor Town Court at a later date.
