Three Ontario BOS committees meet today: What’s on the agenda?

Three Ontario County Board of Supervisors committees will meet Wednesday to review a series of fiscal, legal, and program updates spanning health, law enforcement, and county operations.

Public safety committee – 10 a.m.

The Public Safety Committee will consider multiple grant authorizations and contracts tied to law enforcement and youth programs. Items include:

  • Acceptance of more than $815,000 in state funding through the Office of Indigent Legal Services to strengthen public defense.
  • Renewal of the Adult Treatment Court grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, totaling $181,347 for its third year.
  • Contracts with Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes, Youth Advocate Program, Inc., Make It Matter Ministries, and Family Counseling Services of the Finger Lakes to expand mentoring, life coaching, and behavioral services for juveniles under the Supervision and Treatment Services for Juveniles Program.
  • A budget amendment for the Sheriff’s Office’s Domestic Terrorism Prevention Grant to redirect funds for software upgrades.
  • Renewal of a mental health services contract with CBH Medical PC for the Ontario County Jail.
  • An update on jail operations from Sheriff David Cirencione.

Governmental operations and insurance committee – 12:30 p.m.

The Governmental Operations and Insurance Committee agenda centers on administrative policy and compliance measures. Supervisors will review:

  • A five-year contract with the City of Canandaigua for the removal and disposal of abandoned vehicles.
  • A two-month no-cost extension for the County Clerk’s pistol permit scanning project with the NYS Preferred Source Program for New Yorkers Who Are Blind.
  • Adoption of an amended Regulatory Compliance Policy.
  • Approval of 2026 premium rates for the county’s self-insured medical and dental plans, showing an increase of 7.9 to 11.5 percent depending on coverage type.
  • Updates on Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) agreements and worker safety reports.

Ways and means committee – 3 p.m.

The Ways and Means Committee will close the day with action on fiscal and infrastructure items ahead of the county’s 2026 budget process. Topics include:

  • Contracting with WSP USA for a $228,622 engineering assessment of county-owned rail lines between Manchester and Victor.
  • Closing the County Road 25 Rehabilitation Project, freeing more than $768,000 for reserve accounts.
  • Setting public hearings on November 13 for the tentative 2026 county budget, capital improvement plan, sewer rate amendments, and pump station improvements for the Honeoye Lake Sewer District.
  • Acceptance of public health and indigent legal services grants.
  • Ratification of a new collective bargaining agreement between Finger Lakes Community College and the FLCC Faculty Alliance.
