Two Geneva seniors earn national academic honors

Two Geneva High School students are being recognized among the nation’s top academic performers.

Seniors Madeline Askin and Malcolm King have been named Commended Students in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program — a distinction that places them in the top 50,000 scorers on last year’s PSAT/National Merit Qualifying Test.

Principal Matt Heath presented both students with official Letters of Commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

“They’ve worked hard and set a great example for their peers,” Heath said.

More than 34,000 students earned Commended status nationwide this year. A spokesperson for the scholarship program said students like Askin and King represent a “valuable national resource” and praised their schools for supporting their academic growth.
