Three ex-corrections officers accused of killing inmate Robert Brooks began trial Monday in Marcy, according to CNY Central. Bodycam footage shows the men beating Brooks the day after his transfer in 2024. He died the next morning at age 43.
The defendants — Matthew Galliher, Nicholas Kieffer, and David Kingsley — face murder charges and rejected plea deals. Their attorneys claim there’s not enough evidence or that they didn’t cause harm.
If convicted, each could face life in prison. Jury selection is underway.
