The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office has released its Fall 2025 Newsletter, highlighting a season full of community engagement, training milestones, and public safety initiatives.
In a message to residents, Sheriff Tim Thompson reported major strides in staffing—especially in the Correctional Facility, which now has zero full-time vacancies. Several new deputies and correction officers have also begun field and academy training as part of the department’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public service.
Upcoming Events
Residents are invited to participate in the following upcoming events:
- Retiree Luncheon – October 17
- Drug Take Back Day – October 25
- Gun Law Informational Session – November 8, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the Law Enforcement Center in Romulus. Topics include pistol permit processes, hunting regulations, and conversations with local firearm dealers. Registration is required due to space.
Training & Recognition
- New Deputies were recently sworn in and celebrated with badge pinning ceremonies.
- Two members began the Basic Course for Correction Officers at the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Academy.
- The Correctional Facility successfully completed a reaccreditation review, reaffirming its commitment to high professional standards.
Community Outreach
- The Sheriff’s Office continues its Community Coffee Events on the last Friday of each month, recently stopping at venues in Ovid and Waterloo.
- Events like National Night Out, the Open House, and participation in Shootout for Soldiers and lemonade stand visits demonstrated the office’s focus on youth and community involvement.
Honoring Service
- A special tribute was held as K-9 Frank met the family of the late Deputy Frank Eldredge, for whom the K-9 was named.
- Correction Officer Brandon Struzyk was also sworn into a new position at the Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Thompson emphasized the department’s goal of maintaining strong community ties while adapting to ongoing changes in law enforcement. “We appreciate the community’s continued support of our members,” he said.
