A new group of certified nursing assistants is ready to join the healthcare workforce after completing an intensive training program in Geneva.
UR Medicine Finger Lakes Health announced that nine students graduated this month from its state-approved CNA program. All of them passed the New York State certification exams.
The graduates are: Hailey Angora, Christina Hasselback, Issabelle Hinkal, Alieya Hurlbert, Maddisson Murray, Hannah Porter, Raina Pratt, Sarah Rawlings, and Mary Rodriguez.
The program includes 138 hours of classroom, lab, and clinical training over four weeks. It’s designed as a launching point for careers in healthcare. Many CNAs go on to become licensed practical nurses or registered nurses.
Jobs are available now at Geneva Living Centers, The Homestead in Penn Yan, and Huntington Living Center in Waterloo, among other long-term care facilities.
New CNAs can qualify for a $2,000 hiring bonus. Finger Lakes Health is also offering transportation assistance for those working in Penn Yan or Waterloo.
