More than 250,000 fans are expected to descend on Long Island this week as Bethpage State Park hosts the 2025 Ryder Cup — a global golf showdown projected to bring over $200 million in economic impact to New York State.
The sold-out, weeklong event runs through September 28 and marks the largest Ryder Cup staging in the competition’s nearly 100-year history. Fans from across all 50 states and more than 45 countries are arriving to watch Team USA face Team Europe at what’s known as “The People’s Country Club.”
The tournament buildout is massive. Crews have spent months constructing more than 3.5 million square feet of temporary structures, including a 5,000-seat stadium at the first tee, 20 helicopter landing zones, 350 tents, and over 950 portable toilets.
Bethpage Black’s historic public course will also be a showcase for New York’s tourism, recreation, and agriculture industries. The event’s “New York State of Play” Fan Zone features offerings from more than 60 Taste NY wineries, breweries, cideries, and food producers. Spectators can sample oysters, baked goods, chocolate, and other local favorites — all while discovering destinations across the state.
Officials say the tournament is more than just a sporting spectacle. With 1,000 media representatives on site and broadcast coverage reaching more than 200 countries, the Ryder Cup puts Long Island and New York State on the world stage.
