The Seneca County Board of Supervisors will take up a full slate of human resources and committee business when they meet Tuesday this upcoming week.
The Human Resources and Government Operations (HRGO) Committee is set to review a long list of job actions — including new hires, salary changes, and policy updates. Meanwhile, other committees will handle housing, budget, and planning items in a separate meeting later that evening.
HRGO to vote on job hires and pay rates
The HRGO Committee will vote on several staffing issues already cleared by the county’s Vacancy Committee. Key items include:
- Hiring a Deputy Director of Real Property and placing the new hire at a higher-than-standard starting salary.
- Refilling vacant roles in E-911, Finance, and the Sheriff’s Office.
- Approving Correction Officer Robert Hatch for Step 6 pay based on 19 years of previous experience with New York State.
Breastfeeding policy gets major update
One of the more detailed agenda items is a full rewrite of the county’s Policy for Supporting Breastfeeding Employees. The revised policy spells out workers’ rights to 30 minutes of paid break time to express breast milk — with added protections, clearer room requirements, and extended access for up to three years postpartum.
It also establishes requirements for lactation spaces, like privacy, lighting, and access to a refrigerator — including accommodations for remote workers.
Salary talks and consulting contract on the table
Supervisors will also begin discussions on 2026 salary plans for county officers and senior staff, including setting a date for a public hearing. They’ll also talk over a contract with Pracademic Partners LLC, a consulting group, though no vote is scheduled yet.
Other committee meetings follow
A separate session later Tuesday will bring together several standing committees — including Planning, Mental Health, Public Safety, and others — to address issues like homelessness funding, jail staffing, and the tourism office’s budget. That agenda is covered in a separate article.
