A 51-year-old man is facing felony charges after allegedly threatening to blow up a local hospital and police station earlier this week in Auburn.
According to police, James Brooks made the threats while at Auburn Community Hospital on Tuesday, September 16. The incident happened around 1:29 p.m. at 17 Lansing Street, where officers say Brooks began threatening hospital staff and police officers on site.
Brooks allegedly stated he would blow up the hospital and later made similar threats about the police department.
Officers took Brooks into custody without incident and transported him to Auburn Police Headquarters. He was charged with two counts of making a terroristic threat, a D felony under New York Penal Law 490.20.01.
He was later booked and taken to the Cayuga County Jail to await arraignment.
