A Geneva man was hospitalized after crashing into a utility pole along State Route 5&20 in Waterloo Sunday morning, causing a brief power outage for nearby residents.
The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Ismael G. Reyes was driving a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica when the crash occurred around 8:35 a.m. on Sept. 14. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a NYSEG pole, snapping it and bringing down power lines.
Deputies say Reyes was first transported by North Seneca Ambulance to a nearby business, where a Life Net helicopter flew him to SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. As of the latest update, Reyes was in stable condition.
The vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage, and the collision caused a temporary power outage in the area.

Investigators say Reyes was driving with a suspended license at the time of the crash. He has been charged with:
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation (3rd degree)
- Speed not reasonable and prudent
- Operating over hazardous markings
He is scheduled to appear in Waterloo Town Court on October 15 at 5 p.m.
The Waterloo Fire Department, Waterloo Village Police, Seneca Falls Police, and North Seneca Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
