Woman charged with arson after vehicle fire, fleeing in Geneva

A Rochester woman is facing an arson charge after a vehicle fire and a string of car break-ins early Saturday morning in Geneva.

Deputies arrested Victoria S. Gordon, 29, around 3:45 a.m. on Carter Road following an investigation by the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to Carter Road after reports of a vehicle fire. When they arrived, they found that several nearby cars had been left with open doors, rummaged through, and had items stolen.

A K9 unit was brought in to search the area near Carter and Gambee roads. Deputies say the dog led them to Gordon, who was seen fleeing from a parked car.

She was arrested at Station 19 on Carter Road and charged with arson in the fourth degree. Officials say she had been inside the car just before she fled.

Gordon was arraigned and released on the arson charge. Deputies then turned her over to another jurisdiction where she had an active warrant.

The incident remains under investigation.
