A man and woman are facing felony charges after police say they used threats and intimidation in a plot to steal money from a victim in Waterloo.
Micheal J. Wade, 43, of Wolcott, and Karrie Maslyn, 45, of Seneca Falls, were arrested on August 31 following an investigation by the Waterloo Police Department, with help from New York State Troopers.
Investigators say the two conspired to extort money from the victim, and that Wade reportedly brandished what appeared to be a firearm during the incident. Police later recovered an imitation firearm, a taser, and a knife in his possession.
Wade was charged with second-degree robbery, second-degree menacing, fifth-degree conspiracy, fourth-degree grand larceny, and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is being held at the Seneca County Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment.
Maslyn was also taken into custody and charged with conspiracy and fourth-degree grand larceny. Officers say she was found with the stolen money at the time of her arrest.
