Steuben County man convicted of serial rape

A jury convicted a 51-year-old Steuben County man on six counts of rape and six counts of coercion after eight hours of deliberation, according to WENY.

Matthew Kapp, of Howard, was found guilty of raping a victim multiple times between 2015 and 2019 in Avoca. Prosecutors said he used threats and manipulation to maintain control.

He’s being held without bail and faces up to 25 years per rape charge when sentenced in October.
