Geneva names new assistant city manager

The City of Geneva has appointed Taylor Youngs, JD, MPA, as its new Assistant City Manager, bringing extensive experience in public service and strategic leadership to the role.

Youngs most recently served as Deputy Director of Strategic Initiatives at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency. She also led Baltimore’s Office of Broadband and Digital Equity, overseeing $30 million in public funding and a 12-person staff.

“Taylor’s expertise in public administration, strategic planning, and community-driven solutions will help Geneva thrive,” said City Manager Amie Hendrix. “Her proven record in managing complex initiatives and building partnerships is exactly what this role requires.”

Youngs, an Upstate New York native, called the appointment a full-circle moment. “Returning to my hometown region and contributing to its future is a full-circle moment, and I am grateful to do the work I love in the place that means the most to me,” she said.

She holds both a JD and an MPA from Syracuse University and a BA from the University at Buffalo.

In her new role, Youngs will oversee several departments, including Buildings, Facilities, Zoning, Economic and Community Development, and Recreation. She will also support strategic planning, communications, budgeting, and work closely with the Geneva Industrial Development Agency and Local Development Corporation.

The assistant city manager position was created to strengthen the city’s leadership team following the departure of two department heads. Youngs begins September 8.

Geneva residents can meet her in person during the next “Community Conversation with the City Manager,” scheduled for September 16 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bozzuto Center, 22 Castle Street.
