Fastest U.S. train debuts, built in Hornell

America’s fastest passenger train is here — and it was built in Hornell, New York, according to the Hornell Evening Tribune.

Amtrak’s NextGen Acela trains, made by Alstom, launched Aug. 28 with speeds up to 160 mph. The new fleet offers 27% more seating, smoother rides, and high-speed Wi-Fi. The $2 billion project created over 15,000 jobs nationwide, with nearly all components sourced in the U.S.

The train will run between Washington, D.C., and Boston, with stops in cities like Philadelphia, New Haven, and Providence. Amtrak says all 28 trains will roll out by 2027.
