Tompkins County reveals early design for new government center

Tompkins County’s future Center of Government is taking shape, with a $50 million building planned for North Tioga Street in Ithaca, according to The Ithaca Voice. Designs favor a traditional red brick and stone facade with town names etched into the entry, reflecting public feedback for a community-focused, timeless look.

The four-story building will house departments like the DA’s office, Aging Services, and IT, and include secure areas, public access points, and social spaces. Landscaping will feature an angular design to match the building’s layout, with universal access in mind.

Construction is expected to wrap in 2029.
