A Penn Yan man faces a criminal mischief charge after police say he damaged property while trying to break into a home.
According to the Penn Yan Police Department, 34-year-old Aaron D. Vermilye was arrested following a complaint on August 23. Officers say Vermilye attempted to enter a residence on Commercial Avenue around 2:22 a.m. but was unsuccessful.
Before leaving the scene, he allegedly damaged several items outside the property. He was later charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief and released with a court date in Penn Yan Village Court.
The case was investigated by Officer Marsh.
