Two men arrested after crack cocaine, loaded gun found during drug bust

Police arrested two men in Canandaigua after a months-long investigation into narcotics sales uncovered a loaded handgun and a large stash of crack cocaine.

Amarion McMahon, 21, of Geneva, and Matthew Stanley, 27, of Red Creek, were taken into custody on August 20. Officers charged both with criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and criminal possession of a weapon.

Investigators say the arrests followed multiple drug sales in the city and surrounding areas. At the time of the arrest, police say McMahon and Stanley had a loaded 9mm handgun with its serial number defaced, along with a significant quantity of crack cocaine.

Both men are predicate felons, according to police. McMahon is also on parole. Authorities say more felony charges are expected.

The City of Canandaigua Police Department led the investigation with help from the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigative Unit and the City of Geneva Police Department.
