A Shortsville man was arrested Thursday morning after showing up at a park in Ontario County to meet who he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
According to State Police, 49-year-old Timothy M. Gardiner was taken into custody around 9:18 a.m. on August 21 at Mertensia Park in the town of Farmington. Investigators say Gardiner had been communicating online with undercover troopers posing as a minor.
He was charged with attempted rape in the second degree, a class E felony. Police say the arrest was part of an ongoing online investigation.
