An Ithaca man will spend 25 years to life in prison after brutally killing his wife in their home, according to WENY.
Ahmed Abed, 44, was sentenced Tuesday in Tompkins County Court following his June conviction for second-degree murder. Prosecutors said he killed Alaa Husein Jeena Abedi on the morning of November 11, 2024, while their four children were inside the house.
At the sentencing, three of the children spoke, urging the court to impose the maximum punishment. The district attorney called the killing a cruel and senseless act that left the children without both parents and caused deep, lasting trauma.
