XRP is charging toward a key resistance level, fueled by bullish sentiment around potential ETF approvals and Ripple’s expanding financial reach. With major regulatory decisions expected in October, traders are watching closely—and buying early.
XRP trades near $3 as ETF speculation builds
On August 19, XRP traded around $3.02, up 1.3% on the day, as anticipation builds for multiple XRP-based exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The SEC recently postponed decisions on key filings, including:
- Grayscale XRP Trust
- CoinShares XRP ETF
- 21Shares Core XRP ETF
The new deadline: late October 2025.
Crypto analyst Zach Rector believes this delay may trigger a “buy the rumor, sell the news” pattern—where buyers enter now in anticipation of gains, followed by a short-term pullback after the final decision.
ETF inflows could push XRP into double digits
If approved, ETFs could bring billions into XRP:
- $5B in the first month, according to Canary Capital
- $8B in the first year, JPMorgan analysts project
Some forecasts suggest that if these inflows materialize, XRP’s price could rise as high as $26. The parallels to Bitcoin’s 2024 ETF approval are striking: BTC dropped on the day of approval, then surged to an all-time high just three months later.
Ripple boosts ecosystem with Gemini, Wellgistics deals
Ripple isn’t waiting for ETF approval to expand its footprint:
- Gemini received a $75M credit line from Ripple, with flexible loan options in XRP’s stablecoin RLUSD or USD.
- Wellgistics, a Nasdaq-listed pharmaceutical supplier, is rolling out XRP Ledger-based payment rails to over 6,500 pharmacies, using XRP and RLUSD for settlement.
These moves position XRP not just as a trading token—but as a core layer for real-world financial transactions.
Ripple CTO David Schwartz addressed growing concerns over competition from newer blockchain projects, reaffirming XRP’s utility:
“The market now sees blockchain as core financial infrastructure—something we’ve believed in and built toward on the XRP Ledger.”
Another big October decision: Ripple’s banking charter
Alongside the ETF ruling, Ripple is also awaiting a U.S. Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) decision on its national banking charter, filed in July. If granted, Ripple could gain direct access to U.S. banking infrastructure—a potential game-changer.
A dual approval—ETFs and a charter—would mark Ripple’s biggest institutional breakthrough to date.
What’s next for XRP?
Technical analysts say XRP’s next breakout depends on a clean move above $3.65 or a breakdown below $2.65. Until then, bulls and bears are battling in a tight range.
But with:
- ETF decisions due in October
- Real-world adoption rising
- Regulatory clarity inching closer
XRP could be on the verge of a new chapter.
