The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is crediting community support for the overwhelming success of its “Wanted Wednesday” campaign.
In a public thank-you message, the Sheriff’s Office announced that since launching the initiative more than three years ago, 153 of the 168 wanted individuals featured have been located and apprehended—a 91% success rate.
Community tips helped cut active warrants by 60%
According to the department, the public’s engagement has led to a significant reduction in outstanding warrants—down by 60% since the program began. Officials say anonymous tips and quick responses have made a major impact.
“With your help and tips, we have been able to reduce the number of warrants we carry,” the department said in its message. “All thanks to you!”
The Sheriff’s Office continues to encourage residents to report information about wanted individuals. Anonymous tips can be shared by texting or calling 315-946-9711, or by messaging the Wayne County Sheriff on Facebook at facebook.com/WayneCoSheriff.
