Investigators arrested a Corning woman after authorities said she filed false documents to obtain public assistance benefits.
Abagale Croft, 27, of West First Street in Corning, was arrested March 2 by investigators with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators allege Croft submitted false instruments for filing to the Steuben County Department of Social Services on Aug. 6, Oct. 17 and Dec. 13.
Authorities said she received benefits from the department that she was not eligible to receive.
Croft faces one count of offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, a class E felony.
She was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to Village of Bath Court.
The sheriff’s office said the Steuben County Department of Social Services Fraud and Legal Affairs Unit and the district attorney’s office assisted with the investigation.
