A 39-year-old Batavia man died Friday afternoon in a two-car crash on Route 33 in Bergen, according to WROC. Deputies say Joseph M. Meli was passing another vehicle when his Ford Focus struck a Hyundai Ioniq 5 head-on.
Meli died at the scene. The Hyundai’s driver, 32-year-old Mari K. Hamilton, and passenger Paul A. Hamilton, 35, suffered serious injuries. Two juveniles in the back seat had minor injuries.
All survivors were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the cause of the crash.
