A Jamestown woman convicted of conspiring to distribute large quantities of fentanyl and heroin has been sentenced to time served and four years of supervised release, federal prosecutors announced Thursday.
Holly Berenguer, 43, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara for her role in a drug conspiracy that stretched from September 2020 to September 2021 in the Jamestown area.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York, Berenguer was arrested on September 5, 2021, by Jamestown police on an outstanding bench warrant. During booking, officers found a white powdery substance and $450 hidden in her clothing. The substance later tested positive for heroin and methamphetamine.
Prosecutors said Berenguer was actively distributing fentanyl and heroin in the community throughout the yearlong conspiracy.
“This case is part of a broader Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces operation,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a release. OCDETF uses a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach to dismantle high-level criminal networks.
The investigation was led by the Jamestown Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
