A Wayne County woman is accusing Sodus Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of failing to care for her non-verbal mother, according to RochesterFirst.com. Lekeisha Denman-Duvall says her mother, a longtime resident, is routinely left unwashed, ungroomed, and even sitting in her own waste.
She believes the alleged neglect is widespread and says others have taken legal action. State records show 175 complaints in four years and a 1-star health department rating. One lawsuit is pending, and another is active.
The facility, owned by Personal Healthcare LLC, says it works with regulators but declined further comment. Denman-Duvall is seeking new housing for her mother and hopes the exposure sparks lasting change.
