Ithaca invites public to shape $10M downtown revitalization bid

The City of Ithaca is calling on residents to help shape its application for a $10 million state grant aimed at transforming the downtown area.

As part of New York State’s Round 9 Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI), city officials will host a public meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, at the Tompkins County Public Library. The session will showcase proposed projects and give community members a chance to weigh in on which ideas should move forward.

“In order to develop a competitive DRI application, public input and a strong list of diverse projects are crucial,” said Emma Recckio, Grant Administrator for the City of Ithaca. “Your input is greatly valued in this process.”

The DRI Steering Committee is currently reviewing submissions from an open call for projects that aim to enhance and energize downtown Ithaca. At the upcoming meeting, attendees can learn more about these proposals and provide feedback that will help prioritize funding decisions.

In addition to the in-person meeting, the city has launched an online survey where residents can submit comments on the eligible projects. The survey is available at: https://communityfeedback.opengov.com/portals/ithacany/Issue_14569
