A Canandaigua man is set to be sentenced today after pleading guilty in a violent dog attack that hospitalized a father and his young son, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
Casey Murphy, 29, admitted to third-degree assault for his role in the August 2024 incident, avoiding trial. The unleashed dog, which Murphy co-owned, attacked Ryan VanGrol and his 9-year-old son on Coy Street. Both victims sustained serious injuries and required hospitalization.
The dog was euthanized following the attack. The other co-owner, Madison Herendeen, faces similar charges and is scheduled for trial in September.
