Ontario man accused of knife attack and threats

Deputies arrested a Wayne County man after he allegedly threw a knife and threatened multiple people with a chair during a late-night disturbance.

Carmello Sagastibelza, 38, was taken into custody on July 6 outside his home on S. Slocum Road in the Town of Ontario, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a call reporting a disturbance at the residence. Investigators say Sagastibelza threw a knife at one victim, then picked up a chair and threatened others. He faces two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, three counts of menacing in the second degree, and three counts of harassment in the second degree.

Authorities say Sagastibelza was arrested without incident and processed at the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. He was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to Ontario Town Court at a later date.
