Steve Komanecky, a native of Auburn, has been appointed as the new director of health, physical education and athletics for the Auburn Enlarged City School District, according to The Citizen.
Komanecky begins July 14 with a $110,000 salary, succeeding Chris Maher, who left in June. Previously athletic director and assistant principal in Pulaski, Komanecky said returning to Auburn fulfills a long-held dream.
Superintendent Dr. Misty Slavic said Komanecky has already begun collaborating with the interim director to transition into the role. He says he’s eager to serve his hometown and prioritize student success.
