Rochester Gas and Electric has finished a $5 million upgrade to its electric circuit infrastructure in Sodus, aiming to improve reliability and meet growing demand.
The project increased the voltage on the circuits feeding Substation 210 from 4.16kV to 12.47kV. The work included converting three miles of lines and installing modern components such as transformers, conductors, and enhanced digital controls.
“The overall goal is to enhance service for our customers and accessibility for crews,” said Young Le, unit manager for RG&E Lines Projects. “These improvements will increase available capacity while reducing the frequency of outages.”
The circuit upgrade spanned Maple Avenue, Lake Road, and Middle Road. To bolster reliability at the Sodus Sewer Plant, crews rerouted its service to Mud Lane to avoid outages caused by overgrown vegetation.
RG&E said the project supports its broader 2025 efforts to modernize aging infrastructure, reduce outage durations, and prepare for future growth in energy use.
