The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office has wrapped another year of the D.A.R.E. program, continuing its commitment to teaching students across the county how to make safe and responsible choices.
This year’s program reached students in South Seneca, Romulus, and Waterloo schools. The 10-week curriculum included lessons on the health effects of alcohol and tobacco, resisting peer pressure, confident communication, bullying prevention, and good citizenship.
“The D.A.R.E. program is run strictly on donations,” the Sheriff’s Office noted, with funding going toward workbooks, in-class materials, and an end-of-year celebration. Sponsors for this year included Seneca Meadows Landfill, Sessler’s Wrecking, Coe-Genung Funeral Home, Connie’s Diner, Savanna Bank, Valley Pharmacy, and Seneca Stone.
Sheriff Timothy J. Thompson, Jr. thanked the community and local schools for their support. “We commend our members for another job well done,” he said. “This program would not be possible without the cooperation of our school districts and the commitment of our sponsors.”
