Mets roll past Rockies to complete sweep (highlights)

The New York Mets (42-24) capped off a dominant road trip in style Sunday, launching six home runs to blow past the Colorado Rockies (12-53), 13-5, at Coors Field and finish off the three-game sweep.

Jeff McNeil set the tone early with a solo shot in the second inning, the first of his two homers on the day. He later added a double as part of a three-hit, three-RBI performance. Pete Alonso joined the power surge with a pair of long balls himself, including a 416-foot blast in the third and a two-run shot in the eighth to move past David Wright for second on the franchise’s all-time homer list. Brett Baty and Francisco Alvarez also went deep in a game the Mets controlled from start to finish.

Juan Soto reached base a career-high six times, collecting three hits and three walks, while Ronny Mauricio continued his hot stretch with two hits, two runs, and a stolen base. In total, the Mets racked up 17 hits and scored in six of the nine innings.

Tylor Megill turned in five strong frames, holding Colorado hitless into the fifth and allowing just two runs on three hits while striking out five. Paul Blackburn closed it out with a rare four-inning save despite giving up three runs, securing the Mets’ 42nd win of the year.

Box Score

The Mets will return to Citi Field on Tuesday to open a six-game homestand. They will face the Nationals first, with Griffin Canning set to square off against Washington’s strikeout leader, MacKenzie Gore. The first pitch is slated for 7:10 p.m.
