A Wayne County man has been arrested on felony rape charges following a New York State Police investigation into alleged sexual abuse of a child under 11.
David J. Smith, 76, of Ontario, was arrested on June 4 by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Williamson. Authorities say the abuse occurred at Smith’s residence in the town of Ontario.
Smith was charged with two counts of first-degree rape, a B felony. He was processed at SP Williamson and arraigned in Wayne County CAP Court. He is being held in the Wayne County Jail on $50,000 cash bail. An order of protection was requested for the victim.
