A revised Waters Edge project along Ithaca’s waterfront hit resistance at the city’s Planning Board meeting, as concerns surfaced over future development and lack of public amenities, according to The Ithaca Voice. Originally slated for 450 units, the plan now proposes 200 apartments split between market-rate and lower-income housing.
Board members questioned the handling of undeveloped parcels and whether temporary landscaping would hinder future projects. The new layout complies with zoning, but skepticism remains over retail space viability and environmental impacts.
Meanwhile, other developments advanced more smoothly, including senior housing on West State Street, updated Collegetown midrises, and Cornell’s new Hillel Center, which earned early praise for its thoughtful design.
