A man was seriously injured Friday night after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the road in the Town of Lyons.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office identified the pedestrian as 30-year-old Dimitri M.W. McKinney of Lyons. Deputies said a northbound vehicle on Geneva Street hit McKinney after he entered the roadway around 10:07 p.m. on May 16.

Emergency crews from the Lyons Fire Department and Wayne County Ambulance responded to the scene and transported McKinney to Newark-Wayne Hospital. He was later airlifted by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital for additional medical treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.
