The Village of Cayuga has secured more than $5 million in state funding as part of Governor Kathy Hochul’s announcement of 20 transformative projects across Central New York. The funding comes through the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) and NY Forward programs.
Cayuga, along with neighboring communities Union Springs and Aurora, was named a joint Round 7 winner of a $10 million DRI award. The Village of Cayuga will receive $5,029,000 to support three major projects aimed at boosting recreation, tourism, and housing.
“It is with great honor and gratitude that the Village of Cayuga receive this investment from the taxpayers of New York,” said Mayor Don Wilson Jr. “I congratulate our neighbors, Union Springs and Aurora, and look forward to continuing this momentum into the future.”
The largest single project is the $2.5 million redevelopment of Beacon Bay Marina. Plans call for converting the existing building into new lodging units, a property manager’s apartment, and an open-air gathering space for guests. The project will also add new docks to support increased boating activity.
McIntosh Park will undergo a $2,083,000 transformation that includes drainage upgrades, paved access roads, improved parking, new basketball and pickleball courts, and the relocation of the tee-ball field. An inclusive playground and a new pavilion will also be constructed.
The third project involves the adaptive reuse of a building at 6200 Center Street. With $446,000 in funding, the site will be converted into loft-style two-bedroom apartments and include storage spaces for residents.
