A vehicle crash on Route 104A in Sterling escalated into a knife-wielding domestic dispute that led to an arrest, the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday.
Deputies took Macklin L. Majeski, 43, of Sterling into custody on May 9 after responding to the early morning incident. He faces charges of Menacing in the Second Degree, a misdemeanor, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, a felony, due to a previous conviction. He was also cited for multiple vehicle and traffic violations.
At approximately 8:02 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the crash site, where they found evidence of a fight involving a knife between the vehicle’s occupants. Investigators determined that Majeski had menaced the other person in the vehicle during what was described as a domestic dispute.
Majeski was arraigned later that day at the Centralized Arraignment Part court. A full stay-away order of protection was issued, and he was remanded to custody on $20,000 bail or $40,000 bond.
