14 farmworkers detained by ICE after Orleans traffic stop

Fourteen farmworkers from Mexico and Guatemala were detained during an early morning traffic stop in Orleans County, according to WHAM. ICE agents said the workers, employed by Lynn-Ette & Sons farm, violated federal immigration laws, with three already ordered removed from the U.S.

Witnesses described the raid as “heartbreaking,” while farm leaders stated they had no prior knowledge of the operation. The United Farm Workers union raised concerns that some detainees may have been targeted for union activity, though the farm rejected those claims as false.

All 14 migrants remain in ICE custody pending their removal proceedings, as legal and labor groups call for greater transparency and protection of workers’ rights.
