Concerned Citizens of Yates County to host public discussion

A newly formed community group is inviting residents to join a critical conversation about the future of Yates County amid changing federal and state policies.

Concerned Citizens of Yates County will host Impact on Services: A Yates County Conversation on May 29, offering a platform for discussion about real and anticipated shifts in government funding that could affect local residents.

The event will be moderated by Mike Rusinko and will feature several speakers with deep roots in the community. Klaas Martens, a local organic farmer, will address issues related to agriculture. Mike Clancy, owner of Pinckney Ace Hardware, will speak for local small businesses. Lauren Snyder, former Yates County Public Health director and current board member of Penn Yan Manor, will represent long-term health care. Mary Zelazny, CEO of Finger Lakes Community Health, will cover topics related to broader health care services.

In addition, a representative from veterans services will provide information relevant to area veterans.

Barbara Craig, one of the organizers, emphasized that the goal is to “present information in a non-partisan fashion about real or anticipated changes in federal and state funding that impacts Yates County residents.” She noted that the event will offer opportunities for public questions and comments.

The forum is free and open to the public.
