The East Bloomfield Holcomb Fire Department is sounding the alarm — not for an emergency, but for new recruits. As part of the statewide Recruit NY campaign, the department is hosting an open house on Saturday, April 27, from 1 to 4 p.m., inviting community members to learn more about serving their neighbors through firefighting and emergency services.
The department, though small, is expanding and eager to welcome volunteers age 16 and up. No prior experience is needed — all training will be provided.
“We are a small department with big goals, and we need YOUR help to make them happen,” the department announced. “Whether you’re interested in firefighting, EMS, or just want to learn more about what we do, we want you to come out and be part of the excitement!”
High school seniors in particular are encouraged to attend and explore opportunities before graduation. Attendees will have the chance to meet the team, ask questions, and discover how they can make a meaningful impact in their community.
The open house is part of a broader effort across New York State to recruit new volunteers to local fire departments. For East Bloomfield Holcomb, it’s a chance to grow its ranks and continue protecting and serving with strength and dedication.
