A Yates County man is facing charges after allegedly violating an order of protection and lying to authorities, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say Shawn Martz, 52, of Dundee, was charged with criminal contempt and filing a false written instrument following an investigation into a complaint at a residence on Preemption Road.
The incident occurred on April 11 around 4:25 p.m. Investigators determined Martz had been living for several months with a person who was protected by an active court order. Authorities also allege he provided a false sworn statement to a Yates County deputy.
Martz was issued an appearance ticket and will answer the charges in the Town of Barrington Court.
