Ontario County Sheriff’s Office announces promotions and new hires

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office honored several employees during a swearing-in ceremony recognizing promotions within the Corrections Bureau and the addition of new staff.

Chief Correction Officer Aaron Morrell was formally sworn into his new leadership role after over two decades of service. Morrell began his career with the sheriff’s office in 2003 as a Correction Officer. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2013 and to Lieutenant in 2019.

Correction Sergeant Daniel Walton was promoted to Correction Lieutenant. Walton has served with the agency since 2006, becoming a Sergeant in 2014. Correction Officer Thomas Blair, who joined the department in 2010, was sworn in as Correction Sergeant.

The sheriff’s office also welcomed four new team members. Returning Correction Officer Michael Wheeler was joined by newly appointed Correction Officer Joseph Yancey, Communications Officer Alexandria Moody, and Community Relations Coordinator Emily Davoli.

The office praised the team for their dedication and expressed optimism about the impact each member will have on agency operations and the community.
