Five community leaders were honored for their dedication and service during the Geneva Rotary Club’s annual Service Above Self Gala on April 5 at Ventosa Vineyards.
Frank Capozzi Jr., Kerry Lippincott, Bernard “Bernie” Lynch, Bob McFadden, and Cheryl Toor received the club’s highest honor, the Paul Harris Fellow Award. The award recognizes individuals who embody the Rotary ideals of high ethical standards and meaningful community service.
Capozzi, the executive director of Catholic Charities of the Finger Lakes, has served in Rotary clubs across the region and volunteers extensively in faith and youth programs. Lippincott, executive director of Historic Geneva since 2012, contributes to several local boards and leads Geneva Reads. Lynch, president of Lynch Furniture, is a founding member of the Geneva Education Foundation and has led major efforts to improve recreational and educational infrastructure in the city.
McFadden, president and CEO of Finger Lakes Federal Credit Union, has served the Geneva Rotary in numerous leadership roles since 2001 and actively supports housing and youth initiatives. Toor, director of the Geneva Center of Concern, was recognized for her long-standing work managing and growing the local food pantry and social service agency.
The event also included the presentation of the Geneva Rotary Service Above Self Springstead Award to the Rev. James Adams and Sue Adams for outstanding community service. A new honor, the Community Organization of the Year Award, was presented to The Second Impact, a concussion awareness nonprofit founded by Genevan Ray Ciancaglini.
