Federal funding delays continue to strain New York’s Head Start programs, which support low-income children, according to Spectrum News.
Warren County Head Start says it has only received half of its expected grant, leaving enough funding to operate until April 18. If the remaining funds don’t arrive soon, the program may be forced to temporarily suspend services. Executive Director Shari Marci explained that regional office closures, including New York’s, have worsened the issue.
Local social services are now working with Head Start to explore other financial support options to keep centers running.
