No. 6 Syracuse saw its four-game win streak come to an end with a 13-10 loss to No. 12 Yale on Wednesday afternoon in its final non-conference matchup of the season.
Ashlee Volpe led the Orange offense with a season-high four goals, while Emma Ward contributed three assists. Emma Muchnick added two goals and an assist.
Yale (8-3) never trailed, snapping its three-game skid. The Bulldogs opened with two quick goals, but Ward set up Molly Guzik twice, including a last-second score in the first quarter to tie the game at 4-4.
Volpe notched Syracuse’s only goal in the second quarter, leaving the Orange trailing 7-5 at halftime. Yale extended its lead early in the third, but back-to-back goals from Muchnick and Caroline Trinkaus brought Syracuse (8-5) within one heading into the final quarter.
The Bulldogs pulled ahead 13-9 before Volpe converted a free-position shot with 2:31 left, but the Orange couldn’t close the gap further.
Syracuse returns to ACC action on Saturday, April 5, facing California in Berkeley at 6 p.m.
