Seneca Falls police arrested a local woman and four juveniles Wednesday evening following a disturbance near a residence that reportedly involved armed and masked youths.
Officers were dispatched to a complaint about a large group of juveniles engaged in a dispute with local residents. Witnesses claimed some of the juveniles wore ski masks and were armed. Police made contact with the involved parties upon arrival.
Amber L. Dyson, 32, of Seneca Falls, arrived at the scene and allegedly interfered with police efforts to detain the juveniles. Authorities say she physically resisted arrest in the presence of young children and damaged police property. Dyson now faces charges of resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, and endangering the welfare of a child. She was released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charges in Seneca Falls Town Court.
Four juveniles—ages 13, 15, and two 17-year-olds—were also taken into custody. They were charged with misdemeanors, including menacing in the third degree, conspiracy in the sixth degree, reckless endangerment in the second degree, and stalking in the fourth degree. The juveniles were released to their guardians and will appear before Seneca County Probation at a later date.
Authorities have not disclosed further details about the alleged weapons or injuries in the incident.
