A Corning sex offender will spend at least 25 years behind bars after pleading guilty to producing child sexual abuse materials. Ryan M. Newman, 33, admitted to the crime, U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced on Feb. 12. Newman, a convicted sex offender, faces a sentence of up to 50 years and a possible $250,000 fine.
Authorities began investigating in 2021 after Snapchat flagged illicit content linked to Newman. A 2022 search of his home uncovered more child pornography, but he wasn’t immediately arrested. In 2024, the FBI traced explicit materials sent to an undercover agent back to Newman, leading to his arrest.
Newman, previously convicted in 2012, is set for sentencing on June 11 and faces additional charges in Steuben County Court.
